Coffee has Life-Saving Powers.

Jul. 8th, 2006 | 12:21 am
mood: amusedamused

I have this cold cup of coffee beside my mousepad and I saw a little insect drowning inside. I dipped my finger in so it would stick and I could throw it out.

Big deal, right?

Until it flew away.

Coffee powah!

Stars War III!

Jun. 23rd, 2006 | 12:25 am
location: Xi'an, China
mood: jubilantjubilant

Was both good and bad. I was pretty excited to be able to attend another event after WEG... however, due to unforseen circumstances, Fighter2g and I weren't able to do any casting. This was a big blow for all of us who were trying to give decent coverage to people outside of China. nobrac from GGTV and ownitsch for WTV were there to do streaming, but like I said.. the internet was too bad for us to do anything. =/

First Day. Anyway, I arrived on the 16th. Flew from Manila to Hong Kong with a 3 hour layover, then to Xi'an. I arrived around 9pm. There were absolutely no taxis outside, but there were people who were approaching me speaking to me in Chinese. Of course, I look Chinese and all, but I can't understand it. Then I just realized that they were offering me a taxi ride. A guy who was able to speak English was negotiating with me.. and he said it would cost 200 yuan. 200! That's the most expensive taxi ride I've ever heard of... I was in Hangzhou for 1 month and the most amount we paid for was 80, and that was because we were lost for a long, long time.

First we didn't really talk about prices, and I just rode the taxi expecting the meter to kick in. Then he drove to a quiet, dark street with not much people and started telling me that we won't use the meter, and I'll just pay 200 yuan. I'm like WTF.. seriously no... I tried to call Fighter2g and a Replays.net staff but my phone roaming still haven't kicked in so I was there trying to find a way out of my predicament. I wasn't really afraid of getting into trouble, it's just that I felt I was getting cheated out of my money. Anyway, the Replays.net guy replied to me that 200 yuan was really a standard fare, so I agreed and got to the hotel around 40 minutes later. (I found out later that the fare for the taxi ride is just about 100 yuan, so I did get ripped off :P) It's pretty hard to haggle when you can't speak the language nor know the rates, and I was alone so... GG!

When I arrived, I managed to call Jason and he was at the arena with the Replays.net guys. When I settled in my room, he told me to meet him at the lobby because everyone was having dinner! ToD, Grubby, Inso, DIDI8 and Creo were there.. I sat beside ToD and ownitsch and I thought ownitsch was Creo! Hahaha, oops! ToD and Grubby were cracking up with that mistake. XD

After dinner, all of us went to the arena to check it out again since the Euro players weren't able to see it yet since they have just arrived. It was cool, it had a LOT of seats, more than WEG Masters!

Second Day. Jason (fighter2g) and I got completely owned and woke up later than we were supposed to. We weren't too late at the venue though, and we arrived before the games started. We went to a computer to set up the casting, and when we got it all setup.. we realized that the computer wasn't connected on LAN for the games itself. WTV and GGTV got gg-ed with this setup. So, we moved to the other side of the arena where we could connect the computer with the LAN, but there was no internet connection in that area... only wireless! And we couldn't stream via wireless too.. so again, gg. =(

We were all very bummed out about this. Jason and I were just watching games at the sidelines and I tried to take as many pictures as I could. The lighting was pretty bad since the arena was all dark and my digital camera can only do so much. And there was this stupid tape going around that made it so hard to get good angles, and I can't get near the players themselves. =(

Anyway, after that we all went to dinner riding the bus. We were all like... GOOD FOOD PLEASE! SOME MEAT! Unfortunately, all we got were trays and trays of neverending dumplings! White dumplings... green dumplings... brown dumplings.. it was like the restaurant's specialty. Most of the Euros on the table were like.. . OMG, seriously is this it? Some of the dumplings were okay, some were not that good. And I could see the disappointment in those meat-eaters eyes. XD

On the way home, it took a while for the bus driver to get the bus door open and we had to wait inside the bus for a while! Eventually we got home... and I admire the Chinese players for their dedication. None of the European or Korean players practiced for the 2nd day, but all the Chinese players went to the nearby PC Cafe to train for their match against Korea and Europe. I think they really deserved that win for all the hardwork!

Third Day. We still couldn't cast on the second day of matches so we were just sitting around and watching the games. =( I really, really felt so bad about this. Felt quite useless at the event. =( I just went around taking as much pictures as I could!

Afterwards, we were asked where we wanted to eat for dinner and I said KOREAN FOOD!! And most of the others agreed.. so we went! And all the meat-eaters were soooooo happy with all the barbequed beef and pork and rice and vegetables! Probably the best meal we had in Xi'an, hahaha. After eating, we all went to a club called "1+1" which was pretty fun. ChecK was knocked out. Most of us went to the dance floor to have some fun, and Grubby had this genius idea of going up the platforms on the side. Pretty soon, ALL of us were on the platform... it got too crowded so ToD, Grubby and I moved to the other side and we were making hand signals towards each other. Most of the guys got down and girls were just fawning over these WHITE guys! I was laughing so much from the platform seeing them dance with those pretty ladies!

It's imba though... there are so many pretty girls in the club but no decent looking men! When I was at the platform, there were two old guys who were beckoning me to get down and dance/follow him to his table or whatever and I had to say no and wave him off. He was pretty persistent, so I just went down and left to go back to our table. Jason was telling me, most of the time the guys are those old rich fogeys picking up the Chinese girls... the uglier they are the more money they have. Especially since it was Sunday night. Seriously... they get some young, hot chick, and I only have dirty old men to choose from. Talk about imbalance!!! I got home earlier than the others, around 3am.. had a looong talk with ownitsch which was pretty fun! A few hours later ToD and Jason got home, and all 4 of us starting talking until like 7-8am! We were pushing it ;D When Jason and ownitsch went to sleep, ToD and I watched 2 episodes of Scrubs first before I went back to my room.

It was a pretty great experience, although I wish I could've done more than just watch and take pictures.. haha :D

Blogged @ GameAxis

mood: blankblank

I was asked to write a blog article for my magazine's web portal. I found it quite difficult since our magazine's audience aren't really into the pro-gaming or Warcraft scene.

I feel boo now.

Life's Good!

May. 25th, 2006 | 02:19 am
mood: ha-ha-happy!

I'm pretty ha-ha-happy! Ha-ha-happy!

Okay, might not mean much to a lot of you guys but I'm HAAAAAAAAAPPY! I've been through a lot the past few years and despite always having a happy disposition, I always had some ongoing angst. Earlier while I was driving home, I just realized how I'm just over all of it! Put it in a bubble and it's all gone. GONE! I'm pretty happy now, optimistic of the future and just looking forward to things that I can and plan to do. It's a pretty good feeling, I tells ya. No baggage, no anger, no resentment, no bitterness. Beautiful. :D

Anyway, earlier I went out to meet with my friend at a small coffeeshop near my university after going to the admin office to get some documents. We talked a lot -- about out dreams, our future, our absurd yet possibly realistic plans, and just supporting each other to aim for the best. I love her. We're both ambitious, we both have big plans for our lives, and it's a great feeling to have a friend who has big aspirations since it makes you really strive to do your best!

Wheeeeeeeeeee. I'm haaaaa-haaaaaaaaa-haaaaaaaaaaaaappy!

When my friend had to go home, I went to meet up with old buddies of mine at the LAN cafe I always went to when I was still in college. They were all there, playing WOW -_- .. they all used to play Warcraft III with me. I miss those guys a lot.. we all went to dinner afterwards. Two of them got the Mongolian thing where you can eat as much as you can and choose your condiments and meat, I took a salad and grilled chicken (which weren't good at all and quite expensive for its size/taste, bleh) and the other tuna sandwiches. But at least the company was great! :D We went back to the LAN cafe after eating and guess who was there... my ex, hohoho. :D It was all cool though, we don't talk but we don't have any beef with each other.

Hi! How you doing?!

Water is my Element

May. 23rd, 2006 | 07:03 pm
mood: thoughtfulsunburnt

I just got back from a sudden 3-day vacation with my mom, my sister, her husband and my niece and nephew. We went to an island called Boracay, which is an extremely popular beach spot here in the Philippines. What makes it so unique is that the area has rows and rows of resorts and restaurants, and at night.. everything just lights up for the nightlife! The island never sleeps! You can go party/bar hopping at night.. barefoot, and great thing is that you don't need to pay an entrance fee.

So anyway.. I haven't been to the beach or the water for such a long time and I just realized how much I missed it. We went snorkeling one day in the middle of the sea. The corals and fish there weren't that awestriking, but it was good enough for the kiddies we were with. After that, I was trying to convince my sister to go diving again.. since its been years since we went down. I've been a licensed scuba diver since I was 12!! But we stopped going regularly when I hit college. :(

My sister agreed to start diving again and we might go for the Advanced Open Water course soon! I miss swimming with sharks and seeing giant clams and going down 140 feet for a shipwreck :( I can't believe its been more than 5 years since my last dive!

I love deep water! I feel bad that I can't hold my breath for more than a minute like I used to.. -_- I was trying to dive down around 20 feet when we were snorkeling but my lungs just ain't giving me ample time to reach the coral floor. I really want to be able to free-dive (even with a newb time) again.

And another thing.. I've always dreamed of living in another country, somewhere more urbanized than where I live now.. but man!! There are those simple pleasures of living in an island country that just can't be beat. I still can't get over being in the middle of the ocean, in a small boat, looking towards the horizon and seeing nothing but endless water. Talk about a natural high. I've always been around the islands of the Philippines ever since I was young, but it was just now that I realized how I've been taking it for granted. I've always been envious of people who live in Paris or London or Japan, but I realized how they can't even begin to comprehend what I've been experiencing all my life.

Tan lines, the smell of coconuts, palm trees, clean white beaches, clear blue water... mmmmm, tis a good life. :D

Need New Voicebox.

When I chance upon negative comments regarding my cast during WEG, it doesn't really put me down. The only reason it bothers me is because it's something that I find almost impossible to fix. It would be better if they said I talked to fast, or too slow, or whatever that I can edit and change; but most of the time people just say that my voice is so high-pitched and annoying. I wonder how to remedy that. It's something that I can't actively try to improve! AsdaFASDadsFSd. :[ Come on, give me a voice that's one octave lower or something. Maybe that would help.

Grey's Anatomy

I'm such a girl. I downloaded around 8 of the episodes that I haven't seen yet and started marathoning them last night. I've been bawling my eyes out like a little prissy dog. And I don't cry. This show just stirs up my hormones like a pregnant lady. Seriously. Seriously! I just finished Season 2 and that means I have to wait like half a year before I see another new episode.

I love this show. I love Burke. Burke is like my perfect man! Preston Burke FTW! Now to clear my eyes from all that incessant crying..

Just so I don't forget in the future.. one of my most favorite memories during WEG was when ToD was sick from all the chocolates and coke that he's been consuming. He wasn't drinking much water which makes it worse. He blames me for it because apparently I was the one who gets them the chocolate (which is true) but I get them water too so tsss.

Anyway, he got really sick one time and was just lying down on his bed and still wouldn't drink any water. I got so pissed than I stood on the bed, holding a 1.5 liter of bottled water and screamed "DRINK THE FUCKING WATER! DON'T MAKE ME SMACK YOU!!" I think ToD was feeling horrible from his cough and fever, but he started to laugh a lot seeing a tiny midget being all bossy. Ahaha. I hit him a couple of times with the bottle of water too just to send my point across.

Kak, that's it!
